Immediately after Inger Droog brought Reiki to the Netherlands, in 1984, a need arose to come together with several Reiki practitioners. Everyone experienced that the energy then became stronger and that it promoted your personal development.
But the first real big Reiki gathering was in 1986 in the Okura hotel in Amsterdam. Just over 400 people were present. They were just a part of the huge amount of people initiated in Reiki by Inger in the two previous years. There we felt for the first time what the effect was of being in such a big Reiki group. After that, a meeting was organised every year under the name “Reiki Reunion”, by the assistants of Inger Droog. They were initiated into Reiki masters in this order by Phyllis Furumoto: Joop Gerritsen †, Joost Godschalx †, Ton Driessen †. They have since died. Part of this group were also Li-Li and Rolf Holm and shortly after Fokke Brink, making them the oldest, still living, initiated Reiki Masters in the Netherlands. (At that time, all master initiations were done by Phyllis Furumoto.)
Due to various reasons there was not a Reiki Reunion organised in 1997. So Li-Li and Rolf Holm took the initiative to organise a Reiki Festival that was related to the Reiki Magazine, that they published at that moment. This became a success and immediately a tradition that was refreshed every year! The Reiki Magazine no longer exists, but the Reiki Festival does. The program varies from year to year.
This year there is again a Reiki Festival. It will be the 21st Reiki Festival. It is intended and open to all Reiki schools and traditions.
